Mrs. Neather Bell Brown

Psalm 84:10 “For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Neather Bell Brown, was born to the late Sam and Gladys Aiken Frazier on September 25, 1944 in Yonges Island, SC. She was educated in Charleston County Schools and graduated in 1964 from Baptist Hill High School. Neather “Needa” was blessed in Holy Matrimony to Alvin Brown on July 31, 1965; to this reunion two children were born. Neather accepted Jesus as her savior and became a member of Allen AME Church in 1960 where she served on several auxiliaries; Church School Teacher, Trustee Board Treasurer, Class Leader of Class #4 and her beloved auxiliary The Usher Board where she served as President until her health began to fail; she was an Honorary Missionary. She would visit the sick and shut-in from Allen, other churches in the community and former James Island associates. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Alvin Brown, sister; Sadie Capers; brother; Sam Frazier; Uncles: Lucius Hamilton, Alfred Frazier and Edward Mungin; Aunts: Judy Osborne, Evelyn Middleton and Albertha Brown; sister-in-laws: Emily Brown, Dollie Mackey, Rose Slaughter (Willie), Bernice Ward, Cora Frazier (Sam) and Barbara Heyward (John); brother-in-laws: Lina (Neita), William (Janet), Giffie (Bernice) and Frances (Albertha). She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters Doris Brown (Jonathan) of Kansas City, Missouri, Theresa Brown (Carl Middleton) of James Island, SC, Andrea Capers of Hollywood, SC and special Nephew Therion Troup of Bronx, NY; step children: Roy (Dorothy) Richards, of South Hampton, NY, Calvin (Debra) Ward and James Ward of Kansas City, MO, Henry (Janie) Brown, Richard Wilson of Virginia, Keisha (Ronald) Smalls and Laverne Green all of North Charleston, SC; Sisters: Irma Frazier of Bronx, NY, Mary Frazier (Robert), Debra (Lendell) Brown of Hollywood SC and Elizabeth Felder of Columbia, SC; Brothers: William Frazier, John Heyward and Benjamin (Laverne) Frasier all of Hollywood, SC; Sister-in-law: Janie Mae Jones; Brother-in-law: Joe Ward; Grandchildren: Erica Handley of Kansas City, MO, Xavier Brown of Hollywood, SC and Kenedee Middleton of James Island, SC; Aunts: Iona Delaugher, Mary Lattimore all of Miami, FL and Margaret Matthews of Hollywood, SC; Uncles: Joe Frazier of Walterboro, SC and James (Ronnie) Hamilton of Hollywood, SC.
