Naomi "Nomie" Cash Collins, a cherished matriarch and beacon of warmth in her community, peacefully departed this world on August 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family in her hometown of Charleston, SC. Born on November 24, 1946, to the late Leon Cash Sr. and Claretta Y. Cash, Nomie's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and resilience. Nomie's journey through life was one of dedication and honor. After graduating from Burke High School in 1965, she embarked on a remarkable 28-year career in the United States Air Force. Her service took her across the globe, from the shores of Guam to the bustling streets of Turkey. With a strong sense of duty and a knack for leadership, she excelled in personnel positions, earning admiration from both peers and superiors. Nomie's military career was a testament of her love for her country and her commitment to the values she held most dear. Upon her retirement from the Air Force, Nomie's passion for helping others led her to the Reid House, where her influence and compassion touched many lives. Her work ethic and her ability to mentor and guide were hallmarks of her time there. Nomie's legacy at Reid House is one of unwavering support and profound impact on the community she served so selflessly. Nomie shared an enduring love story with her late spouse, Louis M. Collins, Sr. Together, they built a life characterized by joy and resilience. Her legacy is carried on by her devoted children, Lendall Collins, Marci Collins-Stewart, and Alaina Brown (Cleve), each of whom embody the virtues she held dear. The light of her wisdom will continue to shine brightly in her granddaughters, Jada Young, Jordan Young, and Jurnee Brown, and great-granddaughter, J'Nai Sanders. Nomie's family was the heart of her world. She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Leola Gadsden, Leon Cash Jr. (Beatrice), Kenneth Cash, Sr. (Roberta), Clarence (Vivian), Lelia Jones (Frederick), and Reginald Cash. She is survived by her loving siblings Verbenna Brown (Charles), Kathleen Cash, and Eddie Cash, who will forever cherish her memory and the love she gave so freely.
